Australia is quite worried about the fitness of his premier all rounder Shane Watson in the ongoing cricket World Cup and have put another all-rounder James Hopes on standby if Watson injury does not recover on time. Though, Hopes is quite a talented cricketer but is certainly not in the bracket of Watson.
Watson who can not only bowl his full compliment of overs but can also open successfully in the one-day cricket. On the other hand, Hopes is more or less a bowling allrounder who usually bats lower down the order. Hopes has played few matches for Australia but has failed to impress both with the bat and ball.
It is worthwhile remembering that Watson was injured during Australia’s Super 8 game against Bangladesh. If medical reports are anything to go by, Watson may not be fit enough until the semi-finals on 24 and 25 April, assuming Australia reach that far.
